2 Ingredient Grilled Steak

Servings: 1

INGREDIENTS

  • ON BBQ Grill
  • 200 g (7 oz) rib steak (what I used) or steak of your choice (meat only – not including weight of bone)
  • 10 g (2 tsp) North African Spice Rub or see FYI for other options
  • For Pan Grilling or OPTIONAL Sauce for BBQ Grill version
  • 14 g (1 tbsp) unflavored (i.e. refined) coconut oil, or olive oil
  • 28 g (2 tbsp) unsalted butter

DIRECTIONS

  • 1.   Take the steak out of the refrigerator and place on your counter to allow the meat to get to room temperature. Season with 1 tsp of North African Spice Rub on each side

  • 2.   Preheat your BBQ. Place the steak on the grill and cook: flip steak once, cook to desired level of doneness. Transfer to a serving plate. Optional Butter Sauce: in a small pot combine the coconut oil or olive oil with the unsalted butter, cook over low heat until the butter has melted. Pour half over the steak, turn steak over and pour the rest of the butter sauce on top. Let steak rest in butter sauce for 2-5 minutes before eating

  • 3.   For Pan Grilling Preheat your grill pan over medium heat. Add the unflavored/refined coconut oil and one tbsp of the unsalted butter. When the butter mixture is just starting to smoke, place your seasoned steak in the pan. Grill the first side. Flip and, using a brush dipped in the pan drippings, brush over the top to season the top of the steak. Place the second tbsp of butter on top of the steak and grill to desired level of doneness
